Webfleet Solutions (formerly TomTom Telematics), is “one of the world’s leading players” when it comes to vehicle telematics and fleet management, with more than 50,000 customers worldwide. Their SaaS (software as a service) offers telematics and fleet management solutions to companies of every size.
They have one simple principle in mind: getting customers closer to their drivers. So how do Webfleet Solutions do that? Are their products effective? How do they drive business even further? And are their innovative solutions well-reviewed? We discuss the services offered by WebFleet Solutions below.

Vehicle Tracking
As with many other fleet management businesses, vehicle tracking is one of Webfleet’s most important SaaS solutions. Their technology tracks vehicles in real-time, saving your company both time and money on the road.
Accurate and reliable vehicle tracking is essential to the efficient operation of any fleet – Webfleet’s solution promises just that. It connects the location of your vehicles (via trackers) to the software that collects fleet data. This constant connection is crucial: it shows precisely the amount of time that drivers spend behind the wheel and exactly how your fleet is being utilized.
Being able to view a reliable, real-time location of every vehicle in your fleet helps you to make informed decisions and adapt to events on the road. You’ll also be able to see which driver is closest to an assignment, live, update customers with precise estimated arrival times (ETA), and view accurate vehicle information.
Another important feature of vehicle tracking is the ability to record and analyze driver behavior. This insightful data is presented in report form and allows teams to review driving habits – but more on that later.
However, Webfleet’s live vehicle tracking also assists your team with spotting opportunities for savings. Since every trip is traced and recorded, patterns will emerge. You’ll be able to evaluate a full picture of your fleet’s operations and identify ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Hours and miles are automatically logged too, saving significant costs on admin and paperwork. In fact, Webfleet is so sure of the benefits of their vehicle tracking solution, that they suggest you’ll see a return on your investment “within six to nine months.”
Fleet Optimization
Real-time vehicle tracking makes the optimization of your fleet operations possible. You can make these decisions based on two avenues of information: Webfleet’s live dashboard (real-time information); Webfleet’s powerful reports (rich, detailed data in a digestible format).
Webfleet helps you to select and customize your own key performance indicators (KPIs). Typical KPIs can be service, productivity, or even fuel efficiency. These markers allow your team to benchmark fleet performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Optimization can be as complex as vehicle diagnostics, making sure that error codes are recorded and maintenance schedules are adhered to. Or, it could be as simple as drivers using the quickest route and most capable navigation: after all, the best miles are the ones not driven.
Workflow Management
Intelligent workflow management goes hand-in-hand with fleet optimization. One of the recurring fleet management complaints is a lack of connectivity and communication with drivers in the field: Webfleet’s PRO Driver Terminals put an end to that.
With Webfleet’s transportation management system, office teams have seamless, instant communication with drivers in the field. This powerful feature means that you can remain flexible while planning orders, adapt to sudden changes, and keep your drivers and customers happy.
The dispatch and management dashboard will also improve your team’s workflow. You’ll be able to quickly assign the closest driver the most efficient job route while also providing an accurate ETA to your customer. Automating these tasks (including recording driver mileage in logbooks) reduces distracting and inefficient manual tasks.
Webfleet Reporting
One of Webfleet’s most valuable features is fleet management reporting. Webfleet offers the industry’s ‘most comprehensive set of ready-made reports’, allowing you to review new information about both your drivers and your vehicles with a few simple clicks.
However, Webfleet will also build customized reports to meet the specific needs of your team. By selecting the exact parameters your team would like to track and analyze, you can focus on high-priority issues or opportunities.
Driver behavior reports are synchronized with instant alerts and notifications. As well as being able to regularly review a driver’s risky behavior (including swerving, harsh braking, speeding, and more), you’ll be instantly notified of a risky maneuver the moment it occurs in the field. Your team can intervene where necessary, or simply review the events at the end of the week.
Webfleet Reviews and Ratings
Webfleet Solutions was TomTom Telematics until October 1st, 2019. Although the sale to Bridgestone has improved Webfleet Solutions’ services and reviews are generally positive, there are still some negative customer reviews, both from the company’s time as TomTom Telematics and as the new Webfleet Solutions.
The majority of reviews are found on TrustPilot, however, it is worth noting that almost all of these reviews are for TomTom Telematics. That being said, many of the reviews are still live past the October 1st 2019 transfer date.
From 428 reviews, there’s an astonishingly low average score of 1.3/5. Users regularly complain of misinformation, dishonesty (regarding lifetime maps), faulty updates, inaccurate traffic delays, poor customer service, and more. Many of the 1* reviews come as a result of misinformation about lifetime maps.
Capterra reviews paint a better picture. Although there are fewer reviews (33), they are all addressed to Webfleet Solutions instead of TomTom Telematics, with an average score of 4.3. Users take time to praise job dispatch, fleet monitoring, excellent customer service, and an easy-to-use system. There are still, however, occasional complaints of faulty updates and a fault with tracker removal.
G2 reviews are mixed but, so far, there are only two reviews to discuss. One 0* review combined with one 5* review makes an average score of 2.5/5. The system is praised for its impressive software, effective dispatching, and reliable navigation. Complaints address faulty devices, unsatisfactory customer service, and high costs.
Featured Customers again refer to TomTom Telematics with their reviews, averaging a more reassuring score of 4.7/5 from nearly 100 reviews.
On top of that, Technology Evaluation shows 89% positive reviews for Webfleet Solutions. With an average score of 4.5/5 from 57 reviews, users again praise the efficient dispatch system as well as the way that Webfleet seamlessly integrates with existing business applications.
We expect more and more reviews to align with the Webfleet Solutions brand (as opposed to the TomTom Telematics brand) over time. It is thought that, at that time, a more accurate picture will be presented by those reviews.
TrustPilot – 1.3/5 (based on 428 reviews)
Capterra – 4.3/5 (based on 33 reviews)
G2 – 2.5/5 (based on 2 reviews)
